EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: LORENZO SABATINI, VISIONARY STYLIST AND ANDROGYNOUS MUSICIAN
In a fashion landscape where authenticity trumps hype, Lorenzo Sabatini stands out as a multifaceted stylist, art director, and Tuscan musician with Colombian roots. His practice blends haute couture styling with underground musical narratives, creating looks that breathe cinema and cultural contamination. Raised between maternal sketches and philosophical studies in Florence, he honed a unique eye thanks to mentor Alessia Moccia, collaborating with Esquire Italia, Vogue, Elle, and ODDA Magazine.
His raw, evocative illustrations fill pages of Contributor, The Style Researcher, Sir K, and Kaltblut, while as SMM and art director for Tuscan luxury brands, he has curated designs for celebs like Mondo Marcio, Tommy Kuti, Livia Giuggioli Firth, and Ludovico Tersigni. Logo for NGO To.Get.There (commissioned by Massimo Leonardelli, PR for Valentino/Sophia Loren) and presence at IED Milan Fashion Week 2025 complete a profile of pure resilience.
But music is the engine: after a dark period, vocal coach Marco Marinacci unlocked his androgynous timbre, exploding with "Fashion Twerk$" (2023, 32k views with endorsements from RAI/La7/Deejay pros) and signing with Mendaki/Orangle Records on January 21, 2026, under the alias "Lorenzo from BOG"—a linguistic play evoking his motherlands: Bogotá, where he was conceived, and the Orbetello lagoon where he spent his childhood. He currently lives in his studio in central Argentario. Here, styling and sound fuse into dynamic editorials.
Pivotal is the partnership with CEO Erik Rosete: In 2024, Sabatini provides illustrations to Erik Rosete that capture the essence of a fashion that isn't watched, but inhabited. Rosete elevates concepts into iconic garments. Today, for The Style Researcher—from 2014, voice of timeless elegance—Lorenzo reveals himself: styling, music, and Tuscan visions at the center.
Below, Lorenzo Sabatini answers the questions we posed to him, offering a closer look into his creative universe, influences, and the journey that connects fashion, illustration, and music.
How do you select trends for your editorial styling?
I start from runways and social, but filter everything through my Tuscan-Colombian multicultural lens. Priority to underground niches, with moodboards integrating original music for a cinematic vibe.
How do you stay updated on fashion trends and innovations?
Milan/Rome Fashion Weeks via social, indie designer Instagram, AI for image gen. Philosophy helps me distinguish ephemeral from eternal, always with a musical twist. I chose the province and I'm proud of it.
Which recent trend fascinates you most?
Underground fusion of alt-rap/ballad rock with haute couture, like my looks for Mondo Marcio. It reflects authentic resilience in an era of sustainability.
Essential skills for a stylist today?
Versatility: styling, art direction, SMM, and music production at least for me. Cinematic vision for which I thank my mentor Alessia Moccia; worldwide networking.
A difficult moment handled in styling?
Pandemic: "resilient" editorials between cleaning shifts. The contrast forged authentic looks, turning obstacles into statements.
Step by step, how do you create a styling spread?
1. Moodboard from maternal sketches. 2. Celeb casting. 3. Shooting. 4. Musical overlay. 5. SMM post-production. Result: vivid frames.
How do you balance creativity and brand briefs?
Study identity, demographics, evolution. Brainstorm with team; for my projects, total freedom for my precious collaborators. We're a team of 7 people.
Approach to curating portfolio?
Narrative: styling, illustrations, and music that tell my story. Cinematic sequences on social, with highlights like the To.Get.There logo.
Last-minute project management?
Model shortage? Pivot to digital illustrations and vocal layering, like for "Fashion Twerk$" (32k views). Deadline saved, impact amplified.
Your definition of fashion?
Cultural contamination: Tuscan-Colombian fusion, indie styling, and androgynous sound. Not trends, but immersive worlds.
How does music influence your styling?
Pulsing heart: androgynous timbre. Tracks inspire looks; editorials become video clips.
Creative formula?
I use CBD microdosing for creativity. AI (Suno/Voloco) for vocals.
