The fascinating Anais and Mirabelle Lee grace the cover of our February issue. Anais and Mirabelle are identical twins, prolific models and successful actors who have been modeling since 3 years old. Anais is a series regular in the Netflix show “The Babysitters Club” playing the role of ballerina Jessi Ramsey and Mirabelle Lee stars in the horror feature film “Slapface” streaming on Shudder on February 3, 2022. Here we present an exclusive interview with Anais and Mirabelle.

Anais, you play the role of Jessi Ramsey in Netflix’s The Baby-Sitter’s Club. Can you tell us about season 2? What can fans expect from this season?

This season of The Baby-Sitters Club is very emotional. Each character deals with a struggle and has to learn from it. For Jessi this season, she starts a new dance school and struggles with not being the best in the class anymore. Jessi has set a standard for herself that she just can’t seem to meet anymore and that’s really taken a toll on her. Jessi has to learn that she is just a kid and she doesn’t need to be this prima ballerina yet, she just needs to dance for herself.

“Jessi” made black history by becoming the first black character in The Baby-Sitters Club book series. What does playing a role with an iconic history mean to you?

I know that many young black girls looked up to Jessi in the book series so it is amazing to be able to portray this iconic character. Knowing that girls can look up to me is an amazing feeling.

Did you feel any pressure when you learned you landed the role of “Jessi”, given her historic background?

There is pressure having this kind of role but I try to not let it get to me. I love acting and I love this character. I loved acting everyday on set for this show and I am very passionate about this project. When I booked this role, I read everything there was to know about Jessi because, personality wise, I wanted to be as accurate as possible.

What’s your favorite role you’ve had thus far, and why is it your favorite?

My favorite role I’ve done has definitely been Jessi Ramsey in The Baby-Sitters Club. I loved being able to act and dance in the same project. The set environment was just amazing as well. Being able to work with my best friends everyday was a dream. By the end of filming the cast and crew had become a family to me.

Mirabelle, Slapface will stream on AMC Shudder on February 3, you have the role of Moriah in the movie. Can you tell us about Slapface? What can horror movie fans expect from the movie?

Slapface is a horror/thriller film that will leave you clutching to your seat while also keeping your mind running with many questions. What I love about this film is that it tackles many issues that fans can relate to but also will give you the thrill that horror fans love.

Mirabelle, how did you feel when you landed the role of Moriah?

When I was cast in the role of Moriah, I was so ecstatic. I remember being at a photoshoot and my mom pulled me aside to tell me the news and I screamed at the top of my lungs and dropped to the ground. Being in a horror movie was on my dream projects list so the feeling of accomplishing that was amazing.

Mirabelle, how did it feel working on a horror film? What is your favorite memory from filming?

My favorite memory while filming was the scene where Donna, Rose, and I were chasing Lucas in the woods. We kept on falling and tripping over the branches so many laughs were shared that day. August, Bianca, Chiara, and I formed the most amazing friendship while filming and I will cherish those memories forever.

What is it like being a twin? Did you and your twin sister Mirabelle grow up watching a lot of twin based shows or movies?

Being a twin is just like having another sibling, except you have to share everything and constantly get asked the most repetitive question, “Are you guys twins?”. Our favorite twin movies or tv shows to watch were definitely anything with Tia and Tamera. We love Sister, Sister and the Twitches movies. We also loved the Parent Trap and those Mary-Kate and Ashely movies. Even though they weren’t twins and it was actually the same person, we loved the series Liv and Maddie and were crushed when we found out Dove Cameron wasn’t actually a twin.

If you could cast yourself (and your sister) in any role, what would it be and why?

It would have to be a remake of one of Tia and Tamera’s iconic projects. As we said, growing up we loved watching them on TV and it would be a dream to be in a remake.

What was it like entering the entertainment industry at such a young age?

We feel like being in the entertainment industry at such a young age forces you to mature faster than other kids do because on set, even if you are four years old, you can’t cry and not follow directions. We learned to follow directions and know the appropriate way to behave very quickly since we were in a professional environment around adults so often.

Do you plan to continue your career as an actress as an adult?

We definitely want to continue acting as an adult. We love acting and it is our passion so we want to continue doing it for a very long time. We also hope to maybe branch into other areas in the film industry like directing or maybe even writing.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, we see ourselves being in college, preferably Oxford (fingers crossed). We definitely want to go to college and not stop our education after high school.

What’s your favorite thing to cook? How did you learn to cook and bake? ‘

Our favorite thing to cook is any kind of pasta and our favorite thing to bake are cookies. We love cooking pasta because there are so many different ways you can experiment with it. We love to eyeball what ingredients we add to see what new kind of sauce we can make. We love baking cookies because they are easy but still hands on. They always taste making and the cookie dough is always the best part.

What do you like to do in your free time when you aren’t working or in school?

In our free time, we love to read. We are constantly reading all of the time. We even wake up earlier than we have to just so we can have some time in the morning to read. If you ask our friends, the main reason we hang up the phone is because we want to go read.
